The Mountain Song Society was incorporated on June 7th, 2023 by Carly Benson, Angela Freeze, and Vanessa Fer. These three Moms share a love of singing, and wanted a choir for their kids to join in the community. The society provided financial oversight of the Mountain Song Choir. Vanessa was the artistic director, supported by Carly and Angela.

In 2024, David Pasivirta asked Mountain Song to support the operation of the Cranbrook Community Choir.  David ran the Fernie and Cranbrook Choirs for 10 years. That choir became known as  Mountain Song Community Choir.

In 2025, Evan Bueckert took over as the Artistic Director for Mountain Song Community Choir, and Carly took over as Artistic Director for Mountain Song Youth Choir.

In 2026, Carly Benson expanded Mountain Song Youth Choir to Kimberley with the support of Marta Zeegers and Celia Hammerton. This year we introduce another choir: Mountain Song Junior Choir, which will run at the same day and time as Mountain Song Youth in Kimberley.
