Evan Bueckert teaches choral and instrumental studies, recording arts and music composition at Mount Baker Secondary School. He has Bachelor’s degrees in conducting and performance from U.B.C. and received his teaching degree there in 1995. 

While teaching in the Coquitlam school district he was member of several choral ensembles including Chor Leoni, the Vancouver Chamber Choir and the Phoenix Chamber Choir. He also worked for the BC Music Educators Association as an audition panelist and rehearsal director for the B.C. Honour Vocal Jazz Ensemble. 

In Cranbrook, Evan became involved in musical theatre, conducting pit orchestras for numerous productions with Mount Baker Wild Theatre and also Cranbrook Community Theatre. He also created a unique recording arts studio program at Mount Baker, for which he was awarded a Prime Minister’s Award for Teaching Excellence by Stephen Harper in 2008.

Evan and his wife Georgia moved to the Kootenays in 2003 with their children, Julian and Saturna, who have recently left home. They now live only with their two cats, Olivia and Fiona, and their questionable dog, Poppy.

Carly holds three Bachelor Degrees in Science, Art and Education because she just loves learning that much. Carly loves to sing, innovate, create, perform, and build community. She was on the creative team for the TELUS Spark Science Centre project in Calgary, AB, and was part of a collaborative team that started an adult community choir, “Cum Vino Cantus” in Calgary, AB. Music has brought her all over Canada and the world as a percussionist, singer, and leader. Carly and her husband moved to Cranbrook in 2020. She lives just out of town with some chickens, her two kids that sing and a house she hopes to fill with art.

Carly is the main point of contact for Mountain Song. Her passion is creating experiences that bring people together to create something beautiful. She sings with Community, directs Youth, and is the person behind the website, administration and email.

Celia grew up in the UK where she started playing the violin at age seven. She worked her whole life as a music educator first in the UK and then in Saskatchewan. More recently, she retired to Kimberley where she is enjoying being involved in anything to do wtih music, as well as hiking and skiing. 

Celia joins the Mountain Song team in 2026 as the Junior Choir Director in Kimberley.

Angela got into music as a child through piano lessons, but didn’t start singing until university. Since then, she’s been a member of one choir or another as much as possible. As an engineer until she became a full time mom, creative expression through music provided balance to her life. Now, getting involved in community projects satisfies her enthusiasm for project management. Angela has been volunteering with kids as a Girl Guide leader for the last 10 years, sharing her love of learning, of being outside, and of singing around the campfire. She can often be found with her two kids and husband roaming the trails near Cranbrook.

Angela is a founding director of Mountain Song Youth, is a member of Community, keeps all the money organized and documented, and provides weekly support for Youth.
